We aim to raise money to prepare “comfit-kits” for Victim Services to distribute to Domestic and Sexual Assault victims. These kits include items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, face wipes, hair elastics, pads, deodorant, and small gift cards for food. We also have kits for men and children.  We already know that assault is traumatizing, so we hope that these kits can allow for an easier recovery.

HOW a VISION, BECAME OUR MISSION

Being female University students, we have witnessed the effects assault can have on mental health. After hearing stories, we decided that hygiene and a sense of agency were crucial in the coping process and decided we wanted to help. From this, we brainstormed a way to get tangible support to victims via “comfort-kits”.

UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS:

“Better Than That Benefit”

April 12, 2018

The Bailey Theatre

Doors opening at 7:30pm, with the show commencing at 8:30pm

CAAVA is putting on a fundraising event to help educate and inform the Camrose Community. The band Son of John will be performing, as well as an Opening act by University of Alberta’s very own, Karen Wagner. There will be a silent auction as well as drinks and food. The event is intended to raise monetary funds for us to build these kits and later donate to organizations, such as Victim Services, to distribute as needed.
